brighten your world, ignore the darkness
This memoir relates to my personality because I try to stay positive even if they things around you aren’t going the best. I always want to stay happy because being sad or mad, even in a not so desirable situation, won’t help the cause and make it even worse for yourself. Being happy will make any situation better for you and maybe even those around you.
Personality Theory
Most people have the conclusion that your personalities stay the same throughout your lifetime. Some also believe that your personality does not stay the same and that it can change in your lifetime. People who have looked into personality and have stated that the personality you are born with is what your personality will be for the rest of your life.
In the podcast “The Personality Myth” they talk to an inmate about his own personality and what he believes about it: “Every person has their own personality traits that will guide your life”. This means that every person is their own person and the way they are as a person will be how they are for the entirety of their life. The inmate also made word about “horrible things don’t make them horrible people”, this meaning they just because you did something bad in your lifetime doesn’t make you a bad person because that is not the way your personality represents you as a person.
I can both agree with these statements and disagree with them at the same time. I agree with them when they speak about how your personality is what you are born with and follows you for your lifetime. Also when it says your personality will guide your life because who you are as a person will lead you to find similar people that also have a similar personality. But I also don’t agree with the statements because you can change as a person from good to bad or vice versa. If you want to change the way you are and your personality you always can change. The way that you are born may or it may not be the way you are 5, 15, or even 50 years down the road into your life.
Editing your picture so it was very dark, even on your clothing, was very unique with your flash fiction. I viewed it as even though you may be feeling dark withing yourself, you have the power to brighten it. That was a very strong message to me. You did a good job correlating your one pager so it all flowed together really nice. It was good that you had backed up that you were both agreeing and disagreeing with the claim with evidence as to why.
ReplyDeleteThe author seems to care about what hes writing and has a really good understanding of the things he found out. He does a very good job of showing both opinions and getting his point across.
ReplyDeleteYour image and your flash fiction really fit together. The choices you made, really boosted the impact that your image had. The one-pager flowed off the tongue easily, and it really helps the reader understand the writing more. Great job!

I agree with you that we tend to hang around people who hang similar personalities as us because the people we surround ourselves with have a big impact on our personalities.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you edited the picture to black and white it goes well with your flash fiction. The rationale you had is very true coming from a friend, you're always in a good mood. As for your one pager, I like how you started of each paragraph and have information to back up your claims.

ReplyDeleteThis was a nice piece. I liked how you talk about taking a step back and having a positive view on daily life, because I know I personally struggle with that. It helped remind me that I am the only person who can control my day to day happiness. I also found the 'I say' of your one pager to be very thought provoking. All of the pieces I read prior to this (including mine) chose to agree with what was written in the 'He/She says' portion, but you chose to challenge it.

The choice of making your flash fiction a statement rather than a complete sentence was really good in terms of getting your point across. I think that each paragraph of your one pager supports eachother and flows very well. I like that your paper is alot different than many of the others. Keep up the good work!

You did a good job giving the benefit of the doubt in the they say and he/she says portions. Our I say is very strong also, I like how you explain why you agree and disagree. Nice work!
